Siemens Mobility is releasing the Siwave Data Hub to enable the automatic sharing of transportation data between cities, suppliers and academia.

Siemens says transportation agencies will now be able to determine who has access to their data via open application programming interfaces (API) and have data analytics and notifications that can help support the data sharing environment.

Data types that can be analysed include automated traffic signal performance measures, traffic controller configuration data, connected vehicles and Vehicle to Everything information.

Laryssa Parker, head of Siemens Mobility ITS digital lab Americas, says: “The Siwave Data Hub allows cities to manage what data to be shared, and with whom, securely. It can be used by the city or by authorised partners for research, development, troubleshooting, analysis, performance metrics and new use cases to solve practical transportation problem.”

Hub features include API management, notifications and alerts, usage analytics and support for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.

It is built on microservices architecture powered by cloud computing technologies, supporting multiple types of interfaces and data.

According to Siemens, the platform's format starts with basic services infrastructure, capable of ingesting and serving large amounts of data at high velocity.

The platform is the latest offering of the Siwave range of traffic technology products introduced last year to help better meet the future needs for data-drive services.
