Vianova's kerb management platform is to help the Italian city of Milan better plan its post-Covid-19 infrastructures and improve the integration of shared mobility services.
The French technology company will work with Amat (Mobility and Environment Agency of Milan) and 17 micromobility operators, including Cityscoot and Lime to analyse the integration of electric scooters, bikes, mopeds and cars through a centralised digital platform.
Vianova says this collaborative approach will help the city accelerate the creation of cleaner, safer and more efficient streets for people to move, walk and cycle around.
Milan has already taken steps to reduce traffic flow and pollution through its 'Strade Aperte' (Open Streets) Plan to reallocate 35km of streets from cars to cycling and walking.
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Vianova points out that Milan has seized the opportunity to make it possible for people to get around safely due to the “right infrastructures”.
Valentino Sevino, director of mobility planning and monitoring area at Amat, says: “Thanks to our collaboration with Vianova, the city of Milan will be able to equip itself with a powerful tool to better monitor the demand for shared mobility and plan specific interventions to ramp up the city’s mobility offering with new services.”
Vianova chief operating officer Thibaud Febvre says: “With Amat’s support, we’re able to provide a centralised solution that is tailored to the needs of the local government and, ultimately, will help make Milan’s urban environment more liveable and attractive.”
