Public transit scheduling specialist Optibus has bought Datik, a transportation technology company based in San Sebastian, Spain.

Datik will collaborate with Optibus’ R&D and product teams on the development and launch of B2B and B2G SaaS products in passenger information, control and monitoring, safety and operations.

Datik's predictive, real-time technology is designed to prevent vehicle collisions, enhance service frequency and on-time performance, thereby reducing passenger wait times and service disruptions.

By integrating Datik’s data sets into Optibus’ software platform, Optibus says the capability of its artificial intelligence to predict operational and service outcomes for operators and agencies will be enhanced.

"With this acquisition, operators and agencies will have better access to advanced reactionary capabilities, enabling them to plan better services for passengers and improve the driver work experience,” said Amos Haggiag, Optibus CEO and co-founder.

There will be synergies around data, optimisation and cloud computing, says Inigo Odriozola, general manager of Datik.

"Our combined expertise will break new ground on real-time insights, reinvent 'operatorial agility', and enhance the driver and passenger experience," he says.
