Valerann’s AI-driven data fusion platform

Valerann’s AI-driven data fusion platform, Lantern by Valerann ingests data from fixed road infrastructure, floating cars, social media, weather data, mobile apps and legacy sensors. Fused together, these technologies provide a comprehensive real-time picture of road conditions, enabling authorities to make informed decisions about traffic management. Moreover, combined with historical road and location data, it provides insights that are important for data-driven accurate decision-making.

The company’s latest success story saw the European Space Agency fund the ITS Equant project, a consortium of Valerann and Excelerate Technology, to manage road traffic at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 football tournament, held in July in the UK. The project was chosen for a pilot by England’s Milton Keynes Council.  The Milton Keynes MK Stadium hosted several games, including the semi-finals. Large-scale planned special events, such as sporting games and concerts, attract significant numbers of pedestrians and passenger vehicles resulting in substantial non-recurring road traffic congestion. Properly managing movement and anticipating and managing traffic bottlenecks in real time during these events is crucial for travel safety, efficient mobility, and CO2 emissions reduction. Achieving this is restricted by the current telecommunication capacity and the prohibitive costs of deploying widespread terrestrial communication infrastructure on demand. The system deployed in Milton Keynes introduces a new generation of cost-effective and reliable solutions suitable for a broad range of use-cases, especially for traffic management in critical conditions, such as large sport and music events.

Visitors to the Valerann stand will gain first-hand insights into this project, and several other success stories.
