Tattile to unveil axle counting perfection

A real exhibition highlight at the Tattile stand during Intertraffic 2022 will be the unveiling the final version of the Tattile Axle Counter. The company says the system fills the missing link of automatically providing all relevant vehicle information for a variety of applications, including tolling. According to Tattile, full onboard processing makes any other external devices unnecessary.

A key feature is the embedded system intelligence enabling the system to efficiently support critical traffic conditions such as recognising stationary and queued vehicles as well as slow moving queues.

In addition, automatic vehicle detection guarantees a detection rate of 99.5 per cent of all passing vehicles, and the accuracy at high-vehicle throughput, such as on busy highways, is outstanding. Tattile says its axle counter can count up to 2,400 vehicles per hour and a peak of one vehicle per second for up to 60 seconds in extreme dense traffic periods. The maximum vehicle speed for correct measurement is 250km/h.

Another feature of the axle counting system is the identification of a raised axle due to the light load of a vehicle. The system can also support the use of two independent external devices to ensure left sight and right sight. An IR illuminator allows day and night operation while data output is provided as the reconstructed image of the vehicle and configurable metadata. Data can be sent to a server or stored locally and web access to the system is possible with credentials.

Tattile states that the combination of all these features drives vehicle axle counting to perfection.
