When the Ministry of Transportation in Nova Scotia, Canada, was seeking an effective solution to its outdated vehicle monitoring and traffic flow systems, AGD had the perfect offering. A partnership lasting more than two generations with AGD’s Canadian distributor, North Line Canada, led to the recommendation of their AGD343 Highways Monitoring Radar.

Kelly Lake Compliance Station on Veteran’s Memorial Highway route 102 was the chosen test site. One of the core challenges of this highway was that it spanned almost 90 metres with multiple lanes in both directions, divided by a large, grassed median. A radar which could accommodate an elevation difference of over one metre between north and southbound lanes was vital.

Jim Sheehan of North Line Canada, saw the AGD343 product as ‘an obvious choice as a solution to their very specific needs.’ Following official trial approval, North Line got to work, completing the installation in under 45 minutes, with all traffic monitoring fully functional within 15 minutes of final commissioning.

The trial was a success, with Nova Scotia’s Highways Division going on to order additional units for other test sites. And North Line continues to recommend the AGD343 to various customers, with orders already building up for the rest of 2022.

At the AGD stand in Hall 5, visitors can find out more about the AGD343, and the other products, which make up a range of innovative and globally compatible systems designed to make travel safer, greener, and more efficient. Visitors can also be among the first to learn of AGD’s exciting new offering to the ITS sector, coming soon.
